What Are Acceptance Criterias for Fonts on Font Alternative?

1. Completly Free to Use

We don't list any "free for personal use" or "print only" fonts. All fonts listed must be allowed to be used, copied and modifed for free.

2. No Demo Fonts

We only list fonts, if the complete family is free to use. We don't list single "demo" styles, independed of their licence.

3. At Least Two Styles

Who's Behind Font Alternative?

Font Alternative is a personal project. There is no company or type foundry behind it.

Why Not Google Fonts?

For a font to be listed on Google Fonts, the bar is raised very high. For example, the source files need to exisists in a specific font format. Font Alternative has slightly lower standards in terms of technical quality and supported glyph range, allowing for a wider range of typefaces. On the other hand we're a bit more opinionated on what we consider to be a good font in terms of design.

Also, were not trying to be a download plattform for fonts but to give a curated look and advanced information for typefaces we like.
